Can you believe we’re already cruising through March 2025? It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating the New Year, full of big dreams and resolutions! So, let’s check in-are you still on track with those goals? If not, don’t stress! Every day is a fresh start, and the journey is just as important as the destination.
The semester is now in full swing, and the energy on campus is electric! The corridors are buzzing with laughter, students are deep in discussion (or maybe just sharing the latest memes), and the team is working hard behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Whether it’s keeping you motivated, planning for new arrivals, or handling those little bumps along the way, we’re here to make sure you have the best experience possible.
We know that studying abroad is no small feat. Many of you have travelled thousands of miles, leaving behind familiar comforts to embrace something entirely new. That takes courage, resilience, and an open mind-all qualities that will shape you far beyond your academic journey.
But here’s the thing: education isn’t just about what happens in the classroom. It’s about adapting to new surroundings, learning how people think, and understanding different cultural perspectives. These are the lessons that will open doors for you in ways you can’t yet imagine-personally, professionally, and beyond. So, take in every experience, big or small. Sometimes, the things that seem insignificant today might be the very insights that set you apart in the future.
With that in mind, let’s dive into this month’s highlights! We’ve got plenty to celebrate-so keep reading to find out what’s been happening at school and which students and staff have caught our attention! 😊
Until next time-keep pushing forward and embracing the journey!
To memories and milestones!
Ascencia Team.
This month, we’re giving a huge round of applause to a student who’s been lighting up our classrooms since July 2024-Gang Di!
He first joined Ascencia’s General English programme with a quiet demeanour but a bright, unwavering smile. From day one, his dedication was crystal clear. As time passed, his hard work started turning heads, impressing both teachers and classmates alike!
Coming all the way from China with a big dream-to earn an Undergraduate degree in Business English-Gang Di took the leap and officially embarked on his course in November. And let us tell you, he’s been on a steady climb ever since!
His teacher, Chris, can’t stop singing his praises:
"GangDi has always demonstrated a serious commitment to learning, consistently arriving on time, actively participating in class discussions, and showing remarkable dedication to both English and Business English studies. On one occasion, he shared fascinating insights about his hometown, delivering a short educational video and thoughtfully answering questions from his captivated and curious classmates"
Students like Gang Di remind us why we love what we do. We’re beyond proud to be part of his journey and can’t wait to see him cross the finish line. Keep going, Gang Di-we’re cheering you on every step of the way!
This month, our spotlight shines on none other than our colleague Abel; the life and soul of the Ascencia family! You already know him: the friendly face that greets you at the door with a smile so warm it practically melts the morning frost! Abel isn’t just our unofficial welcome committee; he’s the mastermind behind all the fun that makes student life unforgettable.
From his calming aura to his unwavering loyalty, Abel is the empathetic heartbeat of our community. Need a photo snapped or a video captured at just the right moment? He’s on it faster than you can say “selfie!”And if you ever doubted his origins, just listen to his accent-it’s a playful reminder that he hails from the land of spaghetti, pizza, and vino (yes, Italy!).
Not only is Abel the creative genius behind our Student Life programme-designed to let you kick back and enjoy the vibrant social scene in Malta-but his passion for marketing and social media is nothing short of unstoppable. He’s the secret sauce that helps propel Ascencia into both local and international limelight.
So here’s an affectionate shout-out: Abel, thank you for making every day at Ascencia a little brighter, a lot more fun, and undeniably memorable. Our students are lucky to have you leading the charge on this incredible journey!
March Magic: Spring, Sunshine & Carnival Cheer!
March arrived in full swing, bringing with it an explosion of excitement across the island-from the vibrant energy of Carnival to the much-anticipated arrival of Spring!
If you're new to the island, you’ve probably noticed the dramatic shift in weather. In just a matter of days, that bone-chilling cold has made way for the gentle warmth of the sun. The days are getting longer, which can only mean one thing—we're inching closer to beach days and scouting the best seaside hangouts! Winter is melting away, and the fresh, lively spirit of Spring is in the air!
But the colours of Spring aren’t the only ones painting the island! 🎭 Carnival (il-Karnival in Maltese), held from February 28th to March 4th, turned Valletta into a dazzling spectacle of creativity and joy. From towering, hand-crafted floats to people of all ages dressed in the most spectacular costumes, the streets were alive with laughter and celebration.
Carnival has been a cherished Maltese tradition since 1535, dating back to the era of the Knights of St. John. Year after year, dedicated artists and enthusiasts pour their hearts into designing and building the iconic floats, a labour of love that takes nearly a year to perfect. Their passion, creativity, and commitment shine through in every parade, making Carnival an unforgettable experience!
For those lucky enough to witness this year’s festivities, we hope you soaked up every moment of the island’s vibrant tradition and culture. And if you missed it—don’t worry! Preparations for Carnival 2026 are already in motion, so next year promises to be just as spectacular!
Until then, enjoy the beauty of Spring, and let’s get ready for sunnier days ahead!

Students, here is another study tip that can work for some of you:
It is called the Feynman Technique. For those of you who don’t know, Richard Feynman was a well-known American theoretical physicist, whose contributions to quantum mechanics and quantum electrodynamics were recognized when he was awarded a Nobel Prize in Physics in 1965. He was also famous for his engaging teaching style and his ability to break down complex concepts into simple, understandable ideas, making him an inspiration to teachers and students alike. So, have a look at his technique and see if it works for you:
•Explain Like You're Teaching: Choose a topic you need to learn and write down everything you know about it as if you were teaching someone with no background in the subject.
•Identify Gaps: When you struggle to explain a concept clearly, that’s a sign you need to review that part further.
•Simplify and Clarify: Rewrite your explanation in simpler terms, using analogies or examples if possible.
•Review and Refine: Go back to your study material to fill in any gaps, and repeat the process until you can explain the topic simply and confidently.
This method not only helps you identify exactly what you don’t understand but also reinforces your learning by teaching it in your own words. It’s a fun and engaging way to study that makes even complex subjects more manageable.
